Youth Focus Mental Health Delivery Service Models won a Silver Award in the Non-Governement Organsiation Provided Services category at the Mental Health Services Conference (MHS) 2009 Achievement Awards. The Award was presented to Jenny Allen, our CEO on 2 September 2009 at Perth Convention Centre. It is an honour and great achievement for Youth Focus to be given such recognition. The MHS Conference is the largest mental health and addiction services conference in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.

Youth Focus provides counselling and support to young people 12 - 18 years who are showing early signs associated with suicide, depression and self-harm.
Youth counsellors work exclusively with the young person or where appropriate in partnership with their family and a Youth Focus Family Counsellor.
Youth Focus provides a friendly, confidential and professional service for young people who are in need of counselling and support. Youth Focus Counsellors are trained professionals with the skills necessary to assist young people in identifying coping strategies to deal with issues associated with suicide, depression and self-harm.
Youth Counselling appointments are free of charge and available at our office, or on an outreach basis - where Counsellors meet with clients at home, school or at a convenient location.
Counsellors will assist young people to understand the challenges they are currently facing, help individuals to develop practical life skills and identify realistic solutions for issues such as;

Family counsellors work exclusively with the family or in partnership with the young person's Counsellor.

The Peer Support Program provides therapeutic group work for young people 14 - 18 years who are showing early signs associated with suicide, depression and self-harm.
The Peer support program involves pre-camp recreation based groups, a weekend therapeutic camp and post-camp support groups. The Peer support Program combines social, creative and physical activities with an emphasis on a safe, fun and non-judgemental group based experience for young people.
The Peer Support Program will assist young people to understand the challenges they are currently facing, help individuals to develop practical life skills and identify realistic solutions for issues such as;
- Trust
- Communication
- Family and relationships
- Grief and loss
- Self-esteem
- Coping strategies
- Hurting
- Personal space
- Conflict resolution
The Mentor Program supports young people 14 - 18 years who are showing early signs associated with suicide, depression and self-harm. mentors engage in six weeks training, are Police screened and are matched with a young person based on their interests, gender, location and their ability to meet the needs of the young person.
A Youth Focus Counsellor assesses the need for a mentor based on the young person's goals and interests. the Counsellor continues to work and support the Mentor and young person throughout the relationship.
Mentors are carefully assessed and chosen to provide positive role modelling while assisting the young person to develop new skills and enhance existing skills in the following areas;
