Hawaiian Ride for Youth was born in 2002 and officially began in 2003 when a small group of social bike riders from the Perth business community decided to combine their resources and raise funds for Youth Focus and assist in the prevention of youth suicide, depression and self-harm.
40 riders (ten teams of four) test their endurance in a 710km ride over five days from Albany to Perth. The Hawaiian Ride for Youth travels through the towns of Albany, Denmark, Walpole, Pemberton, Margaret River, Busselton, Bunbury, Pinjarra and Mandurah visiting schools along the way to raise awareness of youth suicide, depression and self-harm.
Knowing that each and every teenage suicide affects hundreds of people; families, friends, neighbours and school friends, the riders felt this issue was a concern the whole community needed to address.
The 2009 Hawaiian Ride for Youth was a wonderful success; with all riders conquering the 710km. Money is still being collected for this event and a final total will be announced at the end of June. If you would like to donate, see the ride diary, a recount of the 5 hard days, or find out more information about the Ride please visit www.rideforyouth.com.au

The Youth Focus Umbrella Initiative runs annually to raise awareness in the general community of the issues facing young people, whilst also raising much needed funds to allow Youth Focus to continue providing support services to approximately 500 young people and 150 families per year.
Umbrellas are symbolic of Youth Focus’ aims and objectives; that is, umbrellas provide us with protection from our harsh environment, and represent the protection that Youth Focus offers youth who are struggling against the severe elements of their lives.

Companies, businesses and organisations that would like to raise funds, for a special project, can also get involved. Youth Focus can send you a Joint Fundraising Pack with details on how to take advantage of this unique fundraising opportunity.
For more information and a Fundraising Pack please contact Youth Focus on 9361 4222 or email events@yct.asn.au

The Youth Focus Charity House was developed around the concept of “Youth Helping Youth” and provides an opportunity for young apprentices to get involved in the construction of the house. The apprentices get to try their hand at putting together the bricks and mortar, electricity, landscaping, plumbing and also carpentry for the house. Whilst learning their trade they get to put a little something back into the community as proceeds from the sale of the house go towards supporting young people in need. This also helped to increase the awareness of the organisation and the service it offers within the young people working on the project and their peers.
Through the generous support of Redink Homes and Mirvac, the 2008 Youth Focus Charity House was be built at cost with all profit from the sale going directly to Youth Focus.
