HAWAIIAN RIDE FOR YOUTH WINS WA AWARD
At the recent Fundraising Institute of Australia's (FIA) National Awards for Excellence in Fundraising, WA Chapter, the Hawaiian Ride for Youth was recognised as the winner of the Special Events category.
It is a credit to all the Riders and Support Crew who took part in the 2008 Ride and to the R4Y Committee, sponsors and supporters. It also recognises the amazing work that has been undertaken over the years by many people, to grow the Hawaiian Ride for Youth to such an outstanding level.
In his acceptence speech, Events Manager, Brian Vanallen praised the commitment of the riders and supporters on their acheivement.
"The Award recognised the multifaceted level of the event. It is more than just a fundraising bike ride. The interaction with the community and schools in raising the awareness of mental health issues was seen as unique and characteristic of the event" remarked Brian.

Mandurah is one of the fastest growing cities in Australia and is widely recognised by residents and visitors for its pristine waterways, beaches and relaxed atmosphere.
Featuring a beautiful and expansive alfresco area and large home theatre designed so the whole family can enjoy their favourite movies, this home is truly an entertainer’s dream. Construction of the four bedroom, two bathroom home began in May 2008 and is now open for inspection. The house is open on the following days: Mondays and Wednesdays from 2-5pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-5pm.
Through the generous support of Redink Homes and Mirvac the Youth Focus Charity House will be built ‘at cost’ with ‘profit’ from the sale going directly to Youth Focus. Assistance is also being received through Rogue Wolf and Challenger TAFE.
The Charity House was developed around the concept of “Youth Helping Youth” and provides an opportunity for young apprentices to get involved in the construction of the house. Apprentices will assist with the construction including the bricklaying, electrical, landscaping, plumbing and carpentry, whilst learning their trade they get to put something back into the community.
The 2006 Youth Focus Charity House in Baldivis was sold for $330,000 and netted over $250,000 for Youth Focus services.
